Where to find affordable senior housing in my area

I'm trying to help a family member find some decent, inexpensive 55 and older housing in our area and figured this would be a good place to ask.

Not really sure where to start, are there websites, programs, or resources you've had good luck with? Even word-of-mouth spots would be helpful.

Appreciate any tips or leads you can throw my way. Thanks in advance!

Start with your local housing authority or like senior centers, they usually have pretty good leads. Websites like SeniorHousingNet or APlaceForMom should help too. Word of mouth still surprisingly works too

I agree with @DearJohn start with local housing, some community groups or nonprofits also help with placement and navigating waitlists or if you're bold you can call places directly

When looking for decent and inexpensive 55+ housing, your best bet is always to start with local resources and government programs.
Many cities and regions have specific housing authorities or nonprofits that manage or subsidize senior housing. They often have income restricted options that are quite affordable.
' Also, check with your local community centres. they often have boards or staff who can point you to hidden gems or word of mouth spots!
