Halo bed rails for seniors, why so expensive?

So, my mom is 75, and I got her a new assisted living facility here.

They're telling me that I gotta get her a Halo bed rail. Apparently, it's the only brand of bed rails for seniors that they let folks use there.
But man, when I looked it up to buy, the price is just nuts! they're at least 400 bucks on amazon.

Plus, there are a bunch of different models, and who knows if they'll even fit her bed. And get this, if you gotta return it, it's a 35% restocking fee!

I even checked a local medical supply store, and the guy there said they charge more than EIGHT HUNDRED BUCKS for 'em.
Why on earth is it so expensive? I'll do anything for my mom, but I think the price is unreasonable.

How to get a cheaper price for this? I'm thinking about buying the used ones, but I still have no clue where to find them

That's a bit frustrating that they're limiting you to a specific brand, especially if it's that pricey!
Have you tried asking the facility if they have anything for rent or if they have a list of approved vendors that might be able to offer a better price?
I think some facilities have arrangements or even used equipment they can provide.
Maybe also try checking with other local senior centers?

Gotcha, I totally get it. When my dad moved into memory care, I had to get the same brand. I actually found one on Craigslist from a family who didn't need it anymore for way less. You might want to check estate sales or ask local hospice places if they know about any donated equipment.
