Recliner lift chair recommendations

One of my clients has an 88-year-old dad in assisted living, early stages of dementia, and very limited mobility. He's currently in a recliner that's way too low and it's become a daily struggle for staff to help him up. I recommended a lift chair but the family isn't sure what to look for or how intuitive these things are to operate. If anyone's been through this, I'd love some insight before I help them shop around.

I recently helped a friend find a recliner lift chair for her dad, who's facing early dementia and has some mobility issues. The main feature to look for is a power lift function, which gently assists him in standing up, making things a lot simpler for both him and his caregivers.

When searching for recliner lift chairs, keep an eye out for ones with user-friendly remotes, dual motors (that way, the back and footrest can move independently), and a seat height that allows his feet to rest comfortably on the floor. Of course, comfort and safety are crucial too, soft padding and a sturdy frame are essential.

Since the patient has dementia, going for the simplest remote is the best. A couple of reclining positions and he'll be more than comfortable. Sure, the complex ones offer a lot, but they can also confuse the patient, so in this case, simple is better. Also, as @GracefulGuardian said, comfort is crucial, so a comfortable materials are key, but make sure to go for options that are easy to clean and maintain.

Why are essential tools like lift chairs still treated like luxury items instead of standard care equipment? If we expect dignity for aging adults, shouldn't safe, intuitive seating be the baseline not something families have to research and debate?
