Thoughts on long term care insurance

Chatted with a few families recently who were surprised at how quickly costs can stack up for nursing home care, even for basic services. One woman said her dad had a policy he bought 25 years ago, and now it's basically saving the whole family from financial ruin, another family had no policy, and they're scrambling with private pay, medicaid paperwork, and a whole lot of stress
Just wanna let us all know (even if some of us already do), the premiums can get steep, especially if you start later in life and I've heard policies that didn't cover what people thought they would, I've also seen residents move in and settle comfortably, knowing their care is covered long term by the way, no second guessing
But do you think long term care insurance is still a smart move in 2025?

If you buy early and understand the policy terms, it can protect assets and reduce stress for family. Premiums are high and coverage varies, but with nursing home costs nearing $10K a month in some areas, it's worth considering. Have you looked into hybrid policies that combine life insurance with long-term care benefits?

Long term care will be smart move always, especially if you start early enough. It may sound like one extra expense you'll want to avoid, but it's a small expense because you'll know you're covered when you're old enough to rely on someone else for care.

If long-term care insurance is so essential, why hasn't the system evolved beyond fine print, steep premiums, and false confidence? In 2025, it's still a gamble either a lifesaver or an expensive illusion, depending on when and how you buy.
