In home vs nursing care

Looking into in home care options for a family member and trying to weigh them against nursing home care. Would love to hear from anyone with experience, how does in home care compare long term in terms of quality, cost, and overall peace of mind? Just trying to make the best call for our situation.

Not much of a help since I haven't had this experience but from I have observed with my friend's mom, she required a nursing home care which has a fixed amount monthly around $9,000CAD and she has access to 24/7 medical care.

I think in-home care can be more affordable if the family member needs limited and non medical assistance.

My concern with in-home care long term is consistency, caregivers can change often, and coverage gaps happen. It can be great, but without a solid agency, it may lack the reliability nursing homes offer

Yeah I get that. In-home care feels way more personal and comfy. Nursing homes might be pricier but they kinda offer that 24/7 peace of mind you just can't beat, especially if medical needs are high.

This is the best explanation ever and the autor is right. One option would be all family members to pitch in, but that means your lives will be on pause, so most will go for hiring a staff. Most probably wouldn't agree with me, but I'd say a nursing home is always better. Plus, no one is going to stop you from seeing your family member as much as you want, at least that's the case with most homes
